Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
At Blaise Primary and Nursery School, inclusivity isn’t just a value; it is something we actively foster every day. From the way we celebrate diversity in the curriculum, to the relationships our staff build with families, we work hard to ensure that every child feels seen, valued and safe.
Parents and carers consistently tell us that our school is a welcoming space where children from all backgrounds thrive. They recognise our commitment to fairness, representation and strong pastoral care.
We ensure that our curriculum reflects and inspires all learners. We work hard to guarantee that our curriculum represents our school community, so pupils have a firm sense of belonging.
No Outsiders
No Outsiders is a scheme that involves the use of age appropriate story books to teach seven of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010.
These include
- age;
- disability;
- gender reassignment;
- race;
- religion or belief;
- gender;
- sexual orientation
It is important we create a school culture in which children, staff and the whole school community work together to foster an environment of inclusivity through effective spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) and character education.

Zones of Regulation
As a school, we follow The Zones of Regulations program. The Zones of Regulation provides a simple way to think and talk about how we feel on the inside and sorts emotions into four coloured zones, all of which are expected in life. The four zones are:
Celebration
We welcome a wonderful and diverse community to Blaise Primary and Nursery, and we celebrate a wide range of events throughout the school. These include, Rosh Hashanah (Jewish festival), Diwali (Hindu festival), Christmas (Christian festival), Lunar New Year (Chinese Cultural festival), Eid (Islamic Festival) and St Paul's Carnival (Bristol local festival).
Language Leaders
At Blaise, we recognise that we have a significant number of pupils who have English as an Additional Language (EAL). It is important that the our pupils are empowered to speak their home language. To support this, we have introduced ‘Language Leaders’: students in Years 5 and 6 who are fluent in their home language. They have shared some simple phrases and numbers with their own classes. As their confidence increases, they will visit other classes to share their language and encourage our younger learners how important it is that they are able to speak another language.
Cultural Café
We regularly host a ‘Cultural Café’, it is a great opportunity for families to meet, connect, share and celebrate each others' cultures. We look forward to seeing all our families there.
